Community Resources and Links

We are always striving to do more for others in our own community.  We encourage you to volunteer or partner with us in helping our neighbors be stronger and give more to families in the Rochester area.  Don't forget to check out our Calendar of Events page to see where DAACare is going to be next!!!

Pay It Forward

One way we can all help to support one another is through the "Pay It Forward" Massage Campaign.  Currently some of our clientele are enrolled in this program, where another member pays for another individuals massage in strict confidence and secrecy.  It is one way we as the community can help others by paying it forward and donating a massage to someone who is less fortunate and unable to pay the full amount of a massage.  This way their wellness needs are met, through a generous donation within the community!!

TO LEARN MORE OR TO PAY IT FORWARD, contact Sandra 585-729-7072
Gorilla Massage Fund

The Gorilla Massage Fund is a charity that raises money to provide grants for massage and alternative therapies to people who are in chronic pain from multiple sclerosis.  Licensed practitioners in the "Gorilla Network" have agreed to accept reduced rates for grant recipients.  The fund will support each recipient with a 50% grant for each of four treatments.  Individuals receiving the grant will be responsible for the remaining 50% of the cost of the massage.

DAAC currently is a massage therapy provider through GMF and gives discounted massage to people living with MS.
Ronald McDonald House Charities

Families are stronger when they are together, and their presence helps a sick child heal faster and cope better. While Ronald McDonald House Charities® cannot make medicine taste better or take away painful treatments, we can help lessen the burden and ensure families have the stability and resources to keep their child healthy and happy.

Our own family has stayed here a couple of times while Tim was sick and in the hospital.  During our last stay with him in the hospital, it enabled my parents to be closer to her during his final hours.  It is a huge stress relief to be close to your loved ones in their time of need.   You can volunteer as an individual our group for projects like taking time with sick children's siblings, or even making a meal for the families in the home.

Currently DAAC is providing free massages to the families residing in the RMDH Rochester, NY

Arc of Monroe County

We offer many services and programs that enable persons with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential.  We provide them with many opportunities to learn and grow, but among the most important is becoming a valued member of their community.  Life is far richer and far more meaningful when we feel a part of something greater than ourselves.  Being a valued part of one’s community gives meaning to life.

Center for Disability Rights

A not-for-profit, community-based advocacy and service organization for people with all types of disabilities.

Tim loved doing his internship here by writing a blog.  I believe you can still read his blogs by looking at their archives in 2008-2009.  Tim use to write about his experiences as a Senior in HS and how accessible different college campuses that he would visit were accommodating to him and his disability.  This is a great resource of information regarding your civil rights as a person with any type of disability.
